Short answer: the Harman Kardon Go + Play 3. It ranks #3 of 85 boombox speakers by sound quality, rated 4.4/5, at $385. The W-King X20S ranks #29, rated 3.8/5, at $150.99, $234.01 cheaper, which does not close the gap in sound quality.
Reviewers disagreed. One found the X20S clearer with nicer, more exposed mids, deeper bass with its bass boost on and more volume, and preferred it. Another rated it right at the Go + Play 3’s level with a bit more deep bass and volume. The Go + Play 3 is punchier with a bigger soundscape and detail, but cooler and more withdrawn in the mids.
Caveats on the X20S: with a flat EQ its bass is cut off, and at max volume its mids and highs drown out the bass. Its rating comes from listening comparisons, not measurements.
Features: the X20S is IPX7 with FM radio, TF and USB playback and a shoulder strap. The Go + Play 3 has no water rating and claims 8 hours.
Buy the Harman Kardon Go + Play 3. It is rated higher for sound quality, and saving $234.01 with the W-King X20S does not make up for the sound-quality gap.
If water resistance matters to you, the W-King X20S at IPX7 (brief submersion) holds up far better than the Harman Kardon Go + Play 3 at no water resistance.

Older model: the Harman Kardon Go + Play 2 (ranked lower, rated 3.9/5).
Pros: Warm sound with boosted bass. Deepest bass out of any speaker in this size. Sound is more natural than the Go + Play2. An aux input, a built-in microphone, a power bank function, stereo pairing and hidden button combinations for adjusting bass and treble. Measured bass extension of 35Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Just a little over half as loud as the higher rated boomboxes. Only 8 hours of battery at medium volume. No water rating.
Setup: Use the hidden EQ modes to adjust the bass up when outside and down when inside. To adjust bass, quickly press the bluetooth and volume down buttons together, the number of light flashes tell you what mode you’re in. To adjust treble, quickly press the volume up and phone buttons at the same time, the number of yellow flashes on the light tell you what mode you are in.

Pros: Clearer and smoother than the larger W-King X20 at about half its size and weight, and in side by side tests it held its own against the Harman Kardon Go + Play 3, with nicer, more exposed mids and more volume. 140W RMS (180W peak), IPX7, Bluetooth 5.4, a built-in microphone, TF card, USB and aux playback, FM radio, a carry handle and a shoulder strap.
Cons: Less bass and depth than the X20 and about 3dB quieter, and at maximum volume its mids and highs start to drown out the bass. With a flat EQ the bass is cut off, so it needs the bass boost. The JBL PartyBox Encore Essential 2 sounded better in a direct comparison. The evidence is listening comparisons, not measurements. Sold direct from W-King in the US.
