The EarFun Uboom L is the better-sounding, deeper-bass option. A great value medium speaker with clear, natural sound, waterproofing, and a Video Mode that keeps audio in sync with video. Its bass reaches about 56Hz before falling 10dB, against 63Hz for the Sonos Roam. Alan Ross Reviews measured it at 103dB at full volume, against 95dB for the Sonos Roam. It is rated for 16 hours of battery against 10 for the Sonos Roam. Watch for: It cannot produce real low-bass rumble or fill a large, noisy space, and the top end loses some detail.
The Sonos Roam is the lighter choice. A small, waterproof Wi-Fi and Bluetooth speaker with wireless charging, voice control and Sonos multiroom support. At 0.9 lbs (429 g) it weighs noticeably less than the EarFun Uboom L at 1.4 lbs (650 g). The catch: Bass extension isn’t very good.
Buy the EarFun Uboom L. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the Sonos Roam is discontinued, so it is only available used.
