Short answer: the Dutch & Dutch 8C. It ranks #10 of 79 powered bookshelf speakers by sound quality (rated 4.7/5) at $13,000 and is still sold new; the Kali Audio LP-6 ranks #37 (rated 4.3/5) and is discontinued, so it is only an option used.
The Dutch & Dutch 8C is the better-sounding, deeper-bass option. Very deep measured bass reaches 23.4Hz at -3dB, while the 1.8dB response span from 300Hz to 5kHz supports even mids. Its bass reaches about 23Hz before falling 3dB, against 43.9Hz for the Kali Audio LP-6. It has an adjustable EQ, which the Kali Audio LP-6 lacks. The catch: Cardioid operation reduces some reflections; it does not make the speaker independent of the room.
The case for the Kali Audio LP-6: The original LP-6 measures 43.9Hz at -3dB and scores 6.33 with an ideal subwoofer. The tradeoff: The measured 2.9dB response span from 300Hz to 5kHz is less even than the newer LP-6 V2.
Buy the Dutch & Dutch 8C. It is rated higher for sound quality; the Kali Audio LP-6 is no longer sold new.

The Two Speakers In Full
Dutch & Dutch 8C: $13000 per pair Tidepool Audio eBay
Pros: Very deep measured bass reaches 23.4Hz at -3dB, while the 1.8dB response span from 300Hz to 5kHz supports even mids. The 6.51 standalone score reflects that full-range strength. Cardioid midrange radiation and boundary-aware bass adjustment help integrate the system with nearby walls. Measured bass extension of 23Hz (-3dB), with a measured sensitivity of 106dB.
Cons: Cardioid operation reduces some reflections; it does not make the speaker independent of the room. Rear-woofer placement and setup remain important. Its 7.16 ideal-subwoofer score trails the strongest tonal performers here, although its deep native bass is a meaningful advantage for listening without a sub.

Kali Audio LP-6: $298 per pair Discontinued eBay
Newer model: the Kali Audio LP-6 V2, ranked higher, rated 4.4/5.
Larger model: the Kali Audio LP-8 (ranked lower, rated 3.9/5).
Pros: The original LP-6 measures 43.9Hz at -3dB and scores 6.33 with an ideal subwoofer. Its waveguide and placement controls make it a credible budget studio monitor, with useful bass for ordinary music listening. Measured bass extension of 43.9Hz (-3dB).
Cons: The measured 2.9dB response span from 300Hz to 5kHz is less even than the newer LP-6 V2. First-generation amplifier hiss can be distracting at short distances. Do not assume the V2’s noise improvements or measurements apply to this model. A port resonance adds bumps around 900Hz to 1kHz. Discontinued.
