Short answer: the W-King X20. It ranks #43 of 113 boombox speakers by sound quality (rated 3.5/5) at $229.99 and is still sold new; the Bugani Boost Max ranks #63 (rated 3.1/5) and is discontinued, so it is only an option used.
The Boost Max’s water rating doesn’t hold up to scrutiny. It’s marketed at IPX5, but our own cons entry calls the water rating poor despite that claim, alongside bass that trails the top of the class and some midrange peaks.
The X20 leans on raw specs: a 7.5-inch subwoofer, 330W peak power, and a 24-hour battery with a built-in power bank, though its own cons note a rising frequency response with rolled-off upper treble and peaks at 700Hz and 1.2kHz.
Buy the X20 for the higher ranking and the more capable spec sheet. The Boost Max is discontinued, so it is mainly found used.
If battery life is a priority, the W-King X20 is rated for 24 hours versus 15 hours for the Bugani Boost Max.
