Bose SoundLink Plus vs JBL Xtreme 4

Last updated: August 19, 2026

Short answer: the Bose SoundLink Plus. It ranks #22 of 77 large speakers by sound quality at $199; the JBL Xtreme 4 ranks #37 and costs $380, so there is not much of a tradeoff to weigh.

What the Bose SoundLink Plus gets right: IP67 rated, IP67 water/dustproof. Close to 20 hour battery life. Vibrant sound with booming bass, clean mids. The catch: Boosted thuddy bass, but not as deep as the SoundLink Flex and you should probably just buy one of those instead if you want a Bose.

What the JBL Xtreme 4 offers: Removable battery. Slightly deeper bass than Xtreme 3. Use this EQ for the best sound quality. The tradeoff: High priced. Some bass boost. Dip in the upper bass to midrange makes it sound strange which cannot be EQd out.

Buy the Bose SoundLink Plus. It ranks higher for sound quality than the JBL Xtreme 4 and costs less, so there is no real case for the other one.
