Last updated: October 14, 2026

These sit in different size classes, so this is not a straight ranking comparison. The Bose SoundLink Max ranks #17 of 105 large speakers by sound quality at $399; the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus ranks #37 of 99 boombox speakers by sound quality at $179.99.

Bose SoundLink Max vs Soundcore Boom 2 Plus

The Bose SoundLink Max is the lighter pick. IP67 rated: dustproof and waterproof to 1m. At 4.9 lbs (2.2 kg) it weighs much less than the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus at 8.4 lbs (3.8 kg). The catch: Big peak in the upper bass, dipped midrange and lots of peaks and dips above the midrange.

The Soundcore Boom 2 Plus is the deeper-bass option. Quite a bit lighter than most of the other boombox size speakers. Its bass reaches about 39Hz before falling 10dB, against 48Hz for the Bose SoundLink Max. It supports AAC Bluetooth, which the Bose SoundLink Max lacks. It links with other speakers (PartyCast 2.0), which the Bose SoundLink Max cannot. The catch: Warm tuning meaning a rolled off treble and some upper bass boost.

Buy the Bose SoundLink Max at $399 if you want a large speaker. Buy the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus at $179.99 if you want a boombox speaker instead.
