Short answer: the Bose SoundLink Max. It ranks #17 of 105 large speakers by sound quality (rated 4.3/5) at $399 and is still sold new; the Sony SRS-XB43 ranks #56 (rated 3.5/5) and is discontinued, so it is only an option used. The Sony SRS-XB43’s replacement, the Sony ULT Field 5, is rated 3.5/5 at $348.
The Bose SoundLink Max is the better-sounding, lighter option. IP67 rated: dustproof and waterproof to 1m. At 4.9 lbs (2.2 kg) it weighs noticeably less than the Sony SRS-XB43 at 6.5 lbs (2.95 kg). The catch: Big peak in the upper bass, dipped midrange and lots of peaks and dips above the midrange.
What the Sony SRS-XB43 does well: Full, warm sound with deep, rich bass. It supports LDAC Bluetooth, which the Bose SoundLink Max lacks. It links with other speakers (Party Connect up to 100 speakers), which the Bose SoundLink Max cannot. It has an adjustable EQ, which the Bose SoundLink Max lacks. The tradeoff: Not as loud as others in the category.
Buy the Bose SoundLink Max. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the Sony SRS-XB43 is discontinued, so it is only available used.

Pros: IP67 rated: dustproof and waterproof to 1m. Up to 20 hour battery; real-world testing found 43+ hours. Deep, rich bass with neutral tuning, app EQ. USB-C doubles as device charger. Sturdy carry handle. The aux input has lower latency (about 33ms) than most Bluetooth connections. Measured bass extension of 48Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Big peak in the upper bass, dipped midrange and lots of peaks and dips above the midrange. Bass not as deep as a Soundcore Boom 2. Gets distorted above 80%. Self drains the battery about 20% a week.

Pros: Full, warm sound with deep, rich bass. Twin passive radiators deliver Extra Bass impact. IPX7 waterproof and rugged. Up to 24 hour battery (14 hours with lights on). Party lights for visual appeal. Measured bass extension of 53Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Not as loud as others in the category. Speaker will not remain at max volume and will turn itself down automatically. Discontinued.
Setup: Try out +3 +6 +3 as an EQ to get it as flat as possible as mentioned in the Alan Ross video
