The JBL Charge 2’s replacement, the JBL Charge 6, is rated 4.2/5 at $119.95.
The Bose Soundlink Flex is the better-sounding, lighter choice. IP67 rated; rugged enough to survive drops from several feet and floats. At 1.3 lbs (589 g) it weighs much less than the JBL Charge 2 at 2.4 lbs (1.1 kg). It is rated IP67 against IPX5 for the JBL Charge 2. It charges over USB-C rather than Micro USB. Watch for: Warm sounding with overly boosted bass which drowns out midrange detail.
What the JBL Charge 2 does well: Doubles as a 6000mAh power bank. ~10-12 hour battery life. It keeps a wired aux input, which the Bose Soundlink Flex lacks. It plays in stereo from a single unit, unlike the Bose Soundlink Flex. The tradeoff: Bass compression at higher volumes.
Buy the Bose Soundlink Flex. It is rated higher for sound quality; the JBL Charge 2 is no longer sold new.
