Short answer: the Bose Soundlink Flex. It ranks #38 of 177 medium speakers by sound quality, rated 3.8/5, at $79.99; the Beats Pill 2024 ranks #78, rated 3.3/5, and costs $99.95, which makes this an easy call rather than a real tradeoff.
The Bose Soundlink Flex is the better-sounding choice. A small, rugged waterproof speaker that survives drops and floats, with a warm, bass forward sound for casual outdoor use. The tradeoff: Warm sounding with overly boosted bass which drowns out midrange detail.
The Beats Pill 2024 is the longer-running choice. A compact waterproof speaker with long battery life, fast charging, a power bank port and stereo pairing. It is rated for 24 hours of battery against 12 for the Bose Soundlink Flex. It supports AAC Bluetooth, which the Bose Soundlink Flex lacks. Watch for: Boosted upper bass, somewhat thuddy.
Buy the Bose Soundlink Flex. It is rated higher for sound quality than the Beats Pill 2024 and costs less, so it is the default pick unless a specific strength of the other one matters more to you.
