Both share the same basic formula: budget-friendly, IPX7-rated, and USB-C charging, but the G4 improves on the M4 in a few concrete ways. It reaches a measured 56Hz -10dB bass point against the M4’s 54Hz, giving it a bit more low-end presence, and it’s rated for 50W output versus the M4’s 40W. The M4’s sound was described as a bit harsh and thin, while the G4’s tonal issue is different: boosted, uneven upper treble with mids that sit slightly behind the bass and highs. Neither is a neutral choice for vocal-focused listening, but the G4’s overall balance edges out the M4’s harshness.
The G4 also has newer connectivity. It uses LE Audio with the LC3 codec and Bluetooth 5.3, while the M4 is limited to an inferred SBC-only connection on the older Bluetooth 5.0, which shows up as higher latency in practice: 90ms for the G4 against 150ms for the M4. The G4 additionally supports microSD playback for music without a phone nearby.
Neither speaker offers an app or EQ adjustment, and the G4’s own extra sound modes, Super Bass and Vocal, reportedly offer little practical differentiation according to listening tests, so don’t expect much tuning flexibility from either model.
Buy the Bogasing G4. It ranks essentially the same for sound quality, costs less, and adds newer Bluetooth connectivity and microSD playback that the M4 lacks.
Buy the Bogasing M4 only if you find one used for meaningfully less than the G4, since it’s now discontinued and offers no real advantage otherwise.
