Short answer: the Stormbox Blast, and it isn’t close. It ranks #2 of 75 boombox speakers at $199.99; the Mix 2.0 ranks #65 at $189, $10.99 less for a dramatically weaker result.
The Mix 2.0’s own cons say it plainly: it doesn’t compete well with speakers of the same size class. Not much deep bass, a boosted upper bass that thuds rather than extends, rolled-off treble, and midrange that recedes rather than carries vocals.
Its feature list is genuinely solid on paper. IP67 waterproofing that floats, NFC pairing, a 100-foot Bluetooth range, and a built-in phone charger are all real conveniences. None of it is what the Stormbox Blast is winning on, which is the actual sound.
Buy the Stormbox Blast. At nearly the same price, there’s no measured reason to choose the Mix 2.0 over it.
The Altec Lansing Mix 2.0 is not a sound-quality pick. It sits near the bottom of the 75 boombox speakers; there are better options higher up.
If battery life is a priority, the Tribit Stormbox Blast is rated for 30 hours versus 20 hours for the Altec Lansing Mix 2.0.

Tribit Stormbox Blast: $199.99 Amazon eBay
Pros: Amazing speaker given its size, competes well with some speakers in the Party size class, bass almost as deep as a Partybox 100. Quite neutral in the default and xbass modes, but try Oluv’s EQ or Alan Ross’s EQ for a slightly more neutral sound. Oluv has mentioned v3.5 now uses his EQ as the defaults and sounds extremely good. 2 different light modes or can be turned off. Measured bass extension of 43Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Lacks a bit of detail compared to the top ranked speakers in other size categories, dip at 5.5khz. Without the above EQ this speaker would rank around #4 in the rankings. The curved underside of the handle makes it a little harder to grip and can be uncomfortable to carry long distances.
