Pros: The most consistent directivity of Sigberg’s three active monitors, a spinorama directivity index standard deviation of 2.50 versus 3.19-3.27 for the SBS.1 and SBS Gen 2, meaning less off-axis “wobble” as frequency rises. Also the flattest listening-window response of the three (nbd_listening_window 0.386). Cardioid vented midrange chamber reduces side-wall reflections down to about 80Hz. 4-way active design with a dedicated 12” midbass and a 5.5” coaxial mid/tweeter, each driver individually amplified and DSP-controlled, plus a 9-band parametric EQ with factory presets and full analog/digital connectivity.
Cons: The weakest on-axis linearity of the three Sigberg monitors (nbd_on_axis 0.486) and the lowest in-room smoothness (sm_pred_in_room 0.262), giving it the lowest spinorama preference score of the lineup (pref_score 2.48, versus 2.97 for the SBS.1 and 5.78 for the SBS Gen 2) independent of bass extension. Only “medium”-quality 2023 prototype measurement data on file. Requires two dedicated Sigberg subwoofers, sold separately as part of the system price, to reach its rated 18Hz bass extension. Extremely expensive as a complete system.
