#13 Genelec 8030A: $1,300 per pair Discontinued Estimated eBay
Newer model: the Genelec 8030C, ranked higher, rated 4.6/5.
Pros: A compact two-way studio monitor with a 5” woofer, a 3/4” metal dome tweeter in Genelec’s Directivity Control Waveguide and 40W per driver. Princeton’s 3D3A measurements show exceptionally consistent directivity (0.81 sound power DI deviation), so the sound to the side closely matches the sound in front.
Cons: Princeton’s data does not cover bass, so it has no preference score; the rating is estimated from it and the measured 8030C that replaced it. Genelec rates the bass to 58Hz (±2dB), so a subwoofer helps with full-range music. Inputs are XLR only. Discontinued.
How it compares: Just above it: Neumann KH 120 A - $100 more, 20W more output power. Just below it: Klipsch The Fives - $325 cheaper, 80W more output power.
