#101 EcoXGear EcoTrek: $179.99 Amazon $179.99 eBay
Pros: A true stereo floating speaker with two 5.25 inch drivers, two 2.5 inch tweeters and two passive radiators. An owner review found big bass and good sound for a garage or campsite. It plays more than 50 hours at average volume from a user replaceable lead acid battery and also runs on AC power. It adds AM/FM radio, a 1/4 inch microphone input, an aux input, a phone charging port and EQ presets.
Cons: Its bass is nowhere near as deep as top ranked boomboxes like the Tribit Stormbox Blast and Harman Kardon Go + Play 3, which reach down to about 43 Hz and 35 Hz. At 8.7 kg it is heavy for its size, a full recharge takes about 8 hours, and some owners report a battery that fades or a unit that stopped turning on. It has no app or USB playback and links with only one other EcoConnect speaker. EcoXGear lists it as IPX7, which covers submersion but does not cover dust.
