#12 KEF CI200RR-THX: $2,399.98 per pair Amazon $1,199.99 eBay
Pros: An in-ceiling speaker with an 8 inch woofer and coaxial tweeter, big enough to move real air in a family room. An 8” woofer paired with a 1.5” Uni-Q tweeter (crossing over at 2.2kHz) measures a genuine 82.5Hz at -3dB and roughly 30.5Hz at -10dB, respectable low-end reach for a mid-priced in-ceiling speaker. The 238mm cutout accepts a large enough driver to move real air in a family room or media room. At $1200 each, it costs about half of the flagship KEF Ci3160RLM-THX while carrying the same THX certification. Measured bass extension of 82.5Hz (-3dB).
Cons: Spinorama’s measurement of this model is a lower-confidence manufacturer curve rather than an independently verified Klippel scan, so treat the extension figures as directionally useful rather than as precise as the ASR-measured entries in this category. No Harman-style preference score has been published for it.

Frequency Response
How the KEF CI200RR-THX measures across the audible range. A flatter listening window (the sound arriving straight at you) is more neutral: peaks sound forward or harsh, dips sound recessed. The estimated in-room response adds what a typical room does, and there a gentle, even tilt down toward the treble is ideal. Both curves are shifted so their 300 Hz to 3 kHz average sits at 0 dB.
Measurement data: spinorama.org, measured by the manufacturer.
EQ for a Neutral Response
Flattens the measured listening window from the KEF CI200RR-THX's own bass extension up to 16 kHz. Set a preamp of -3.1 dB, then add these filters to any parametric equalizer in the signal path: the speaker's app or DSP if it has parametric EQ, a miniDSP, Equalizer APO or Wavelet. Boosts are kept to 3 dB, and EQ cannot fix how evenly the speaker spreads sound off-axis, which is why some speakers gain more than others. Calculated by Speaker Ranking from the spinorama measurements above.
| Filter | Frequency | Gain | Q |
|---|---|---|---|
| Peak | 118 Hz | +1.4 dB | 1.25 |
| Peak | 668 Hz | +1.4 dB | 0.60 |
| Peak | 2,312 Hz | -3.0 dB | 1.74 |
| Peak | 4,705 Hz | -1.7 dB | 2.02 |
