#152 Canon S-50: $300 per pair Discontinued eBay
Pros: A 1980s omnidirectional speaker from Canon’s Wide Imaging Stereo line: a driver fires down onto a curved reflector to spread sound evenly around the room. Audio Science Review measured a preference score of -0.81 that reaches 1.8 with an ideal subwoofer, with 1.30 listening window deviation. Measured bass extension of 64.5Hz (-3dB).
Cons: Audio Science Review found a very uneven response, for a preference score of -0.81 that reaches only 1.80 with an ideal subwoofer. Canon stopped making it decades ago. Bass reaches 64.5Hz (-3dB) and about 52Hz (-10dB). Discontinued.
