#12 One Systems 108HTH Passive eBay
Pros: Manufacturer measurements give the best result in this group of weatherproof installation speakers: preference scores of 3.25 standalone and 6.11 with an ideal subwoofer. Bass reaches about 52Hz at -10dB, deep for an 8-inch design, and the IP56 cabinet with 70V/100V taps suits outdoor bars, patios and pool areas. Measured bass extension of 118Hz (-3dB).
Cons: The treble is rolled off on axis, with response quoted only to 16kHz, so it sounds less airy than the flattest 8-inch models. It is passive and needs an amplifier, and it is sold through pro dealers with no published price.
How it compares: Just above it: Meyer Sound Ultra X40. Just below it: LD Systems Stinger 8-A-G3.
