Same family: the Alcons Audio VR5 V1 (smaller model, rated 4/5) and the Alcons Audio VR8 (smaller model, estimated 3.9/5).
Pros: A passive pro-ribbon point source from Alcons’ VR series, a larger sibling of the measured Alcons Audio VR5 V1: a 12” woofer under the larger 6” RBN601 pro-ribbon with Real-90 horizontal dispersion, rated 60Hz to 20kHz (±3dB) and 134dB peak. The ribbon’s low distortion and controlled horizontal pattern are what lift the measured VR5 near the top of the compact class.
Cons: No independent measurements yet, so it can’t be compared with ranked PA speakers. It needs an Alcons Sentinel amplifier and controller preset for its rated response, and Alcons sells only through dealers, so there is no retail price.
