#424 Ultrasone Tribute 7 Discontinued eBay
Pros: Lower mids sit within about 0.6 dB of target, keeping voices and guitars natural. It uses 1 x 40mm dynamic with an easy 30 ohm load.
Cons: Discontinued, so it is mainly found used. Presence sits about 8.2 dB low with a 17.9 dB dip near 3.0 kHz, so vocals and instruments lose some bite. A 6.7 dB peak near 11.9 kHz can make cymbals and sibilance sound sharp. Sub-bass is 7 dB short at 30 Hz, so deep bass lacks rumble. The 5.2 dB bass lift can sound boomy and mask midrange detail. A Harman score of 6 places it in the lower part of the over-ear rankings.
