Newer model: the Sony WF-1000XM6, ranked higher, rated 4.5/5, released Feb 2026.

Older model: the Sony WF-1000XM3 (ranked higher, rated 3.9/5). See every Sony WF-1000X generation.

Pros: Excellent noise cancelling and LDAC support made it one of the most popular premium earbuds. Bass and lower mids sit close to target.

Cons: Discontinued and replaced by the Sony WF-1000XM5. The default tuning measures poorly, scoring 48 on the Harman scale: presence sits about 7 dB low and the treble about 10.7 dB low with an 11.9 dB dip near 9 kHz, so it sounds dull and muffled until EQ adds treble back.
