#506 Samsung AKG EO-IG955: $13.99 Amazon $13.99 eBay
Pros: Measured response gives it a solid Harman preference score of 69 with a 2.36 dB spread, and its mids sit within about 0.8 dB of target, so vocals and instruments sound natural. Bass is lifted about 4.5 dB with extension to 20 Hz, giving kick drums and bass lines extra weight. Upper treble lifts about 7.2 dB for extra air and sparkle. It uses 1 x 11mm dynamic + 1 x 8mm dynamic with an easy 32 ohm load.
Cons: A 5.5 dB peak near 8.2 kHz can make cymbals and sibilance sound sharp. The 4.5 dB bass lift can sound boomy and mask midrange detail.
