The Xiaomi Sound Outdoor is the better-sounding, tougher option. An affordable waterproof outdoor speaker with a separate tweeter, decent battery life and linking to many more speakers. It is rated IP67 against IPX5 for the Sonos Roam. The tradeoff: Bass reach is limited for the cabinet size, with a rated lower limit of 60Hz, and the boosted bass gets somewhat uncontrolled at high levels.
The Sonos Roam is the lighter pick. A small, waterproof Wi-Fi and Bluetooth speaker with wireless charging, voice control and Sonos multiroom support. At 0.9 lbs (429 g) it weighs noticeably less than the Xiaomi Sound Outdoor at 1.3 lbs (597 g). It has an adjustable EQ, which the Xiaomi Sound Outdoor lacks. Watch for: Bass extension isn’t very good.
Buy the Xiaomi Sound Outdoor. It is rated higher for sound quality; the Sonos Roam is no longer sold new.
