Short answer: the Beats Pill 2024. It ranks #78 of 177 medium speakers by sound quality, rated 3.3/5, at $99.95; the Ultimate Ears Boom 4 ranks #112, rated 2.9/5, and costs $114.99, so there is little reason to consider the other one.
Why pick the Ultimate Ears Boom 4: A tough waterproof speaker that floats, with USB-C charging, app EQ and pairing with other UE speakers. It has an adjustable EQ, which the Beats Pill 2024 lacks. It plays in stereo from a single unit, unlike the Beats Pill 2024. The tradeoff: Not much improvement over the old ones.
The Beats Pill 2024 is the better-sounding, longer-running option. A compact waterproof speaker with long battery life, fast charging, a power bank port and stereo pairing. It is rated for 24 hours of battery against 15 for the Ultimate Ears Boom 4. It supports AAC Bluetooth, which the Ultimate Ears Boom 4 lacks. The tradeoff: Boosted upper bass, somewhat thuddy.
Buy the Beats Pill 2024. It is rated higher for sound quality than the Ultimate Ears Boom 4 and costs less, which makes it the one to get unless you need something the other one does better.
