Short answer: the Zealot ZE01, by a modest but real margin. It ranks #27 of 75 boombox speakers at $229.99; the Bang Max ranks #36 at $229.99, essentially the same money.
Both share the same basic complaint: an uneven top end. The Bang Max’s cons describe peaks in the upper mids and lower treble; the ZE01’s describe a top end that’s rolled off and not well balanced against the rest of the range. Neither is a refined-sounding speaker.
The ZE01 shares its internals with the [Zealot S95](/portable/speakers/Zealot-S95/), according to our notes, which gives its measured performance more confidence behind it than a one-off budget entry.
Buy the ZE01 for the slightly higher ranking at essentially the same price. Buy the Bang Max if you specifically prefer its bass character, which our notes call quite deep for the size and money.
If battery life is a priority, the Zealot ZE01 is rated for 40 hours versus 24 hours for the Tronsmart Bang Max.

The Two Speakers In Full
Tronsmart Bang Max: $229.99 Tronsmart eBay
Pros: A powerful, feature-rich party speaker with loud, bass-rich output, app EQ, power-bank capability, lighting, TWS/multi-speaker linking, and separate microphone and guitar inputs with independent level control. Reviews find it can fill a large room even at moderate volume, while SoundPulse or custom EQ gives it useful flexibility for parties and casual karaoke. Measured bass extension of 39Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Its bass-first tuning prioritizes impact over accuracy: upper mids and lower treble can sound unnatural, while fine midrange and treble detail are limited. Deep Bass mode can swallow the rest of the mix, volume control is imprecise and some reviewers hear distortion above roughly 98dB. It is a party tool, not a neutral monitor.

Zealot ZE01: $169.90 Amazon Aliexpress eBay
Pros: Appears to be the same internals as the S95. Measured bass extension of 45Hz (-10dB).
Cons: A little rolled off up top and not that balanced through the rest of the range. Clarity isn’t as good as better speakers.
