Sound quality is the deciding factor here, and it isn’t close. Our notes describe the Xsound Go as well balanced, with its only real weakness being a lack of bass compared to bigger speakers. The Stormbox Mini+’s notes are blunter: not a great sounding speaker, with really weak bass, despite carrying a longer feature list on paper.
The Stormbox Mini+ actually has more hardware features. It includes app support with EQ presets and the AAC codec, true wireless stereo pairing, microSD card playback, and a built-in light show, none of which the Xsound Go’s spec sheet lists as clearly (though the Xsound Go does have its own app-based EQ). The Xsound Go counters with a rated 24-hour battery life against the Stormbox Mini+’s 12 hours, and it’s noticeably lighter at 0.8 lbs (363 g) against 1.2 lbs (544 g).
Everything else is close: both are IPX7 rated, both include an aux input and a built-in microphone, and both use a similar full-range driver pair with a passive radiator.
Buy the Xsound Go. It sounds more balanced according to our notes, lasts twice as long per charge, and costs about the same.
Buy the Stormbox Mini+ only if the extra feature list, microSD playback, TWS pairing, or the light show matters more to you than sound quality or battery life.
