It ranks #19 of 105 large speakers by sound quality (rated 4.3/5) at $159.99 and is still sold new; the Sony SRS-XG300 ranks #77 (rated 3.1/5) and is discontinued, so it is only an option used. The Sony SRS-XG300’s replacement, the Sony ULT Field 5, is rated 3.5/5 at $348.
The Soundcore Motion X600 is the better-sounding, lighter option. Firmware 4.2.9 is a big improvement in sound quality over previous releases. At 5.2 lbs (2.35 kg) it weighs noticeably less than the Sony SRS-XG300 at 6.6 lbs (3 kg). It supports LDAC Bluetooth, which the Sony SRS-XG300 lacks. The catch: Stock frequency response is wavy.
The Sony SRS-XG300 is the longer-running choice. IP67 dust/waterproof rating. It is rated for 25 hours of battery against 12 for the Soundcore Motion X600. Watch for: Overly expensive.
Buy the Soundcore Motion X600. It is rated higher for sound quality and still sold new, while the Sony SRS-XG300 is discontinued.

Pros: Firmware 4.2.9 is a big improvement in sound quality over previous releases. Try this Oluv EQ for the best sound quality. Measured bass extension of 52Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Stock frequency response is wavy. Use spatial mode for best sound quality. Need a different EQ for each volume step. Dip in the upper bass around 120Hz. Rising frequency response, treble a little hot. Would be ranked around #20 without the Oluv EQ. Even with the Oluv EQ the bass isn’t very deep and the sound is still a little unnatural.

Pros: IP67 dust/waterproof rating. Bluetooth 5.2 with multipoint pairing, LDAC codec support. Retractable carry handle for easy portability. Big boomy bass-forward sound, excellent for parties. Fast-charging: 10 minutes gives 70 minutes playback. Stamina mode optimizes battery. Measured bass extension of 54Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Overly expensive. Bass not as deep as competitors. Upper mids peak. Hollow sounding. Rolled off treble. Not much clarity. Does not float. Speaker will not remain at max volume and will turn itself down automatically. Discontinued.
