Both speakers need a little help to sound their best, in different ways. The Motion X600’s stock frequency response is wavy, with a dip in the upper bass around 120Hz and a rising, slightly hot treble, and reviewers note it would rank closer to #20 without a third-party EQ preset applied. Even with that EQ, the bass isn’t very deep and the sound still comes across as a little unnatural. A firmware update to version 4.2.9 was described as a big improvement over previous releases, so keeping it current matters. The Bose, by contrast, ships with boosted, thuddy bass that isn’t as deep as its own sibling, the SoundLink Flex, and reviewers specifically suggest buying the Flex instead if you want a Bose speaker in this price range.
The Bose wins clearly on battery life and durability. It’s rated for close to 20 hours against the Motion X600’s 12, and it carries an IP67 rating for full water and dust protection, edging out the Motion X600’s IPX7 water resistance which doesn’t cover dust. The Bose also adds a companion app and Bluetooth 5.4 with good range, along with a premium tactile grille and silicone build quality that reviewers called out specifically.
The Motion X600 counters with more raw connectivity and hardware. It includes an aux input and a built-in microphone that the Bose lacks, plus a five-driver array (two woofers, two tweeters, and an upward-firing driver for its spatial audio mode) against the Bose’s simpler two-driver-plus-passive-radiator layout.
Buy the Soundcore Motion X600 if you’re willing to apply an EQ preset to get past its wavy stock tuning and want to save money.
Buy the Bose SoundLink Plus if battery life, full dust and water protection, and build quality matter more to you than outright sound quality, though the SoundLink Flex is worth a look first if you specifically want a Bose.

Pros: Firmware 4.2.9 is a big improvement in sound quality over previous releases. Try this Oluv EQ for the best sound quality. Measured bass extension of 52Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Stock frequency response is wavy. Use spatial mode for best sound quality. Need a different EQ for each volume step. Dip in the upper bass around 120Hz. Rising frequency response, treble a little hot. Would be ranked around #20 without the Oluv EQ. Even with the Oluv EQ the bass isn’t very deep and the sound is still a little unnatural.

Pros: IP67 rated, IP67 water/dustproof. Close to 20 hour battery life. Vibrant sound with booming bass, clean mids. Bluetooth 5.4 with good range. Premium tactile grille, smooth silicone. Quality build at $179.
Cons: Boosted thuddy bass, but not as deep as the SoundLink Flex and you should probably just buy one of those instead if you want a Bose.
