Both speakers lean warm with boosted bass, but the Boom 3i controls it better. Its review says it looks designed to compete directly with the JBL Charge 5, sharing a very similar warm, bass-boosted sound profile, and calls it not quite as loud or balanced as the Charge 5 but very, very close, making it a better value than the Charge 5 itself. The Sound Outdoor’s bass takes the same warm approach but with less control: its review specifically flags the bass as somewhat uncontrolled at higher listening levels, a looser character the Boom 3i’s review doesn’t report at its price point.
One firmware note worth knowing: an earlier Boom 3i firmware version had some bass distortion, fixed via an update in the Soundcore app, so make sure it’s current if you buy one.
What the Boom 3i adds: a companion app with EQ, an IP68 rating versus the Sound Outdoor’s IP67, more output power at 50W versus 30W, and about four more hours of battery life.

Pros: Xiaomi Sound Outdoor uses 20W woofer, 10W tweeter + 2x passive radiators. Its 597 g, claimed 12 hours (Manufacturer specified) battery life, IP67 protection and mono playback make it a practical option for its intended room or portable use. A decent sounding speaker for its size.
