Soundcore Boom 3i vs Soundcore Boom 2 Plus

Last updated: October 14, 2026

These are not really the same size class, and that is the honest framing here. The Soundcore Boom 3i ranks #31 of 175 medium speakers by sound quality at $118.99; the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus ranks #37 of 99 boombox speakers by sound quality at $179.99.

Soundcore Boom 3i vs Soundcore Boom 2 Plus

The Soundcore Boom 3i is the lighter pick. Looks to be designed as a direct competitor to the JBL Charge 5 with a very similar sound profile, warm tuned with boosted bass. At 1.7 lbs (783 g) it weighs much less than the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus at 8.4 lbs (3.8 kg). The catch: Not quite as good as a JBL Charge 5, doesn’t go quite as loud or sound quite as balanced, but very very close.

The Soundcore Boom 2 Plus is the deeper-bass choice. Quite a bit lighter than most of the other boombox size speakers. Its bass reaches about 39Hz before falling 10dB, against 56Hz for the Soundcore Boom 3i. It keeps a wired aux input, which the Soundcore Boom 3i lacks. It links with other speakers (PartyCast 2.0), which the Soundcore Boom 3i cannot. The catch: Warm tuning meaning a rolled off treble and some upper bass boost.

Buy the Soundcore Boom 3i ($118.99) for a medium speaker; the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus ($179.99) suits a boombox speaker instead.
