Weight is the Boom 2 Plus’s real selling point. Its notes call it quite a bit lighter than most other boombox-class speakers, though its warm tuning brings a rolled-off treble and some upper bass boost, and it doesn’t reach as deep on bass as the top ranked speakers in the class. The ZE41’s own notes call it the absolute best value for bass performance, play time, and max volume in the boombox class, driven by a much larger array: a 191x130mm 140W subwoofer plus two 93mm midrange drivers and two 42mm tweeters, against the Boom 2 Plus’s two 4.5” woofers and two 0.75” tweeters. The tradeoff is size: the ZE41’s notes call it the heaviest and biggest boombox speaker around, with bass EQ that can sound bloated and muddy.
Everything else favors the Boom 2 Plus on convenience: a higher IPX7 water rating against the ZE41’s IPX5, AAC codec support where the ZE41 is SBC only, and a rated 20 hour battery life that isn’t even specified for the ZE41.
Buy the Zealot ZE41 if maximum bass output and volume are the priority and you can handle its size and weight.
Buy the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus if a lighter, more portable boombox at a lower price matters more than outright bass output.
