Short answer: it depends on the setup, with the Sony ULT Field 3 as a portable and the Yamaha True X Speaker 1A as a surround option. The Yamaha doubles as a wireless surround for True X soundbars or a standalone in Solo mode at $150, but its bass is not very deep and an upper-mids peak makes voices sibilant. The Sony is IP67 rated and dustproof and water resistant at $208, though it sounds a bit hollow with boosted treble.
Buy the Sony ULT Field 3. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the $58 you would save on the Yamaha True X Speaker 1A does not close the gap.
Battery life favors the Sony ULT Field 3: rated for 24 hours against 12 hours for the Yamaha True X Speaker 1A.
