The Sony ULT Field 3 is the better-sounding choice. IP67 rated, dustproof and water resistant. It supports LDAC Bluetooth, which the Tribit Stormbox 2 lacks. It links with other speakers (Party Connect up to 100 speakers), which the Tribit Stormbox 2 cannot. It plays in stereo from a single unit, unlike the Tribit Stormbox 2. The catch: Sounds a bit hollow, a bit boosted in the treble.
The Tribit Stormbox 2 is the lighter choice. A little better sounding than the original Tribit Stormbox, less of a rolled off treble. At 1.3 lbs (593 g) it weighs much less than the Sony ULT Field 3 at 2.6 lbs (1.2 kg). It keeps a wired aux input, which the Sony ULT Field 3 lacks.
