Sony SRS-XV500 vs Klipsch Gig XXL

Last updated: October 5, 2026

Short answer: the Sony SRS-XV500 if sound quality matters most, the Klipsch Gig XXL if price matters most. The Sony SRS-XV500 ranks #16 of 44 party speakers, rated 4.0/5, at $315. The Klipsch Gig XXL ranks #23, rated 3.7/5, at $79.99, $235.01 cheaper.

Sony SRS-XV500 vs Klipsch Gig XXL

The Sony SRS-XV500 is the longer-running, tougher pick. RTINGS measured a slightly warm sound with plenty of bass punch, and found it gets very loud for outdoor parties. It is rated for 25 hours of battery against 8 for the Klipsch Gig XXL. It is rated IPX4, while the Klipsch Gig XXL has no water resistance. Watch for: RTINGS measured poor directivity, so the sound changes noticeably as you move off to the sides.

The Klipsch Gig XXL is the lighter option. A straightforward 18.1 lbs (8.2 kg) party speaker with a large 8-inch woofer, horn tweeter, aux and USB playback, guitar and microphone inputs, karaoke reverb, TWS pairing and a USB-A power bank. At 18.1 lbs (8.2 kg) it weighs noticeably less than the Sony SRS-XV500 at 24.7 lbs (11.2 kg). The catch: Bass is more warm than deep and can become muddy at high volume.

Buy the Sony SRS-XV500 when sound quality outweighs the price for you, and the Klipsch Gig XXL when the price outweighs sound quality instead.

Sony SRS-XV500 ranking card

Older model: the Sony SRS-XP500 (ranked higher, rated 4/5).

Pros: RTINGS measured a slightly warm sound with plenty of bass punch, and found it gets very loud for outdoor parties. Two 140mm woofers and two 60mm tweeters in a bass reflex cabinet, with a claimed 25 hours of battery life and a 10 minute quick charge for about 2.5 hours of play. Two 6.3mm inputs switch between microphone and guitar, with karaoke controls for key, echo and per-input volume, plus a 3.5mm aux input. IPX4 splash resistance and built-in lighting.

Cons: RTINGS measured poor directivity, so the sound changes noticeably as you move off to the sides. Bass compresses and pumps as you approach maximum volume. At 11.2 kg it is heavy to carry, and IPX4 only covers splashes.

Klipsch Gig XXL ranking card

Pros: A straightforward 8.2kg party speaker with a large 8-inch woofer, horn tweeter, aux and USB playback, guitar and microphone inputs, karaoke reverb, TWS pairing and a USB-A power bank. Independent testing confirms that it gets remarkably loud and gives EDM and hip-hop a lively, bass-forward character. Really good value for the money.

Cons: Bass is more warm than deep and can become muddy at high volume. There is no app or proper EQ beyond a Bass button, no water rating, and the claimed eight-hour battery life is short for an outdoor party speaker. It is a fun, simple option, but not the cleanest or most flexible choice.
