Short answer: the Rythmik FVX12. Both are rated 4.1/5 for sound quality (#105 and #104 of 143 subwoofers), and the Rythmik FVX12 costs $1,459 against $1,859 for the Rythmik FVX15, so with nothing between them on sound quality, price settles it.
The case for the Rythmik FVX12: A 12” Direct Servo subwoofer in a multi-tuned ported cabinet, so the port can be set for more output or plugged for a sealed-like roll-off, with one band of parametric EQ. The tradeoff: No independent measurements yet, so its output can’t be compared directly with ranked subwoofers; the rating is estimated from the measured Rythmik LV12 (120.3dB in the 40 to 80Hz CEA-2010 bands and 107.7dB at 20Hz).
Why pick the Rythmik FVX15: A 15” Direct Servo subwoofer in the same multi-tuned ported cabinet as the measured Rythmik FV15HP, with one band of parametric EQ and a lower power amplifier. The catch: No independent measurements yet, so its output can’t be compared directly with ranked subwoofers; the rating is estimated from the measured Rythmik FV15HP (122.0dB in the 40 to 80Hz CEA-2010 bands and 111.1dB at 20Hz), which shares its cabinet but has a more powerful amplifier, so it is placed a little below it.
Buy the Rythmik FVX12. Both are rated the same for sound quality, and it costs $400 less than the Rythmik FVX15.
About the ratings: neither speaker has been measured yet, so both ratings are estimated from measured siblings and predecessors (likely ranges: Rythmik FVX12 3.8 to 4.3; Rythmik FVX15 3.8 to 4.3). Treat this verdict as provisional.
