Short answer: the RSL (Rogersound Labs) Speedwoofer 12S, if you are buying new. The Harbinger V2218S ranks higher than it (#15 vs #131 of 143 subwoofers, 4.5/5 vs 3.7/5) but is discontinued, so only consider it used; the RSL (Rogersound Labs) Speedwoofer 12S is still sold new at $884.96.
What the RSL (Rogersound Labs) Speedwoofer 12S does well: An affordable rear ported 12 inch subwoofer with strong deep bass output for movies. The catch: The 565.1H x 479.4W x 562.0D mm cabinet and 82 lbs (37.2 kg) mass make this a serious placement and moving commitment.
The Harbinger V2218S is the better-sounding choice. A pro style 18 inch ported subwoofer with hard hitting upper bass for movie effects and music, relatively light for its output. The tradeoff: Deep-bass output is more limited than the strong 40-80 Hz result suggests, so it is not the right choice when the lowest movie effects are the priority.
Buy the RSL (Rogersound Labs) Speedwoofer 12S new; the Harbinger V2218S is no longer sold new, so it only makes sense as a used find.
