Short answer: the Polk Signature Elite ES20. It ranks #119 of 222 bookshelf speakers by sound quality, rated 3.7/5, at $398.98; the Polk R200 ranks #178, rated 3.2/5, and costs $799, so there is not much of a tradeoff to weigh.
The Signature Elite ES20 has the deeper, more even bass. Its 6.5-inch woofer reaches 55.7Hz before falling 3dB and stays well damped, and its horizontal coverage spans about 60 degrees each side. Its in-room smoothness is average, its deep cabinet needs a large shelf, and its rear port needs space from the wall.
The R200 images tightly but has a glare problem. Its ring-radiator tweeter and 6.5-inch woofer stay within about 1.5dB on-axis up to 10kHz. A resonance around 800Hz to 1kHz makes some voices and instruments sound tinny, and its distortion there rises to around 10 percent at 96dB. Its bass rolls off at 74Hz (-3dB), so a subwoofer is strongly recommended, and it needs aiming nearly straight at you.
Buy the Polk Signature Elite ES20. It is rated higher for sound quality than the Polk R200 and costs less, so only choose the other one for a particular feature it does better.
