Short answer: the Focal Sub Air if sound quality matters most, the Monoprice Premium Select 8in 200-Watt if price matters most. The Focal Sub Air ranks #29 of 73 subwoofers, rated 3.4/5, at $800. The Monoprice Premium Select 8in 200-Watt ranks #46, rated 3.2/5, at $224.99, $575.01 cheaper.
Why pick the Monoprice Premium Select 8in 200-Watt: A low cost ported 8 inch subwoofer with a 200 watt amp, an easy entry point for a first subwoofer. Watch for: Very compact 18.5 lbs (8.4 kg) size, limited 106.4 dB output, ported room interaction, and entry-level build.
Why pick the Focal Sub Air: A slim, light 8 inch subwoofer with a side port, only 16 cm deep, made to add bass without a full size cabinet. The tradeoff: Without a published 20 Hz output result, deep-bass capability is less certain than its midbass figure.
Buy the Monoprice Premium Select 8in 200-Watt if the price is the priority over sound quality, or the Focal Sub Air if sound quality is the priority over the price.
