Older model: the Midiplus MI5 II (rated 3/5).
Pros: The second generation of Midiplus’s larger powered monitor pair: a 5.25” woven fiberglass woofer and a 1” silk dome tweeter behind a metal mesh guard in each wooden, rear ported cabinet, driven by 2x 35W of Class D power. Inputs cover balanced 1/4” TRS, RCA, a 3.5mm aux input and Bluetooth 5.0. Midiplus rates it at 60Hz to 20kHz.
Cons: No independent measurements have been published yet, so its tonal balance can’t be compared with ranked speakers. The MI5 II it replaces measured poorly on spinorama.org (a 2.24 preference score, with a wide 9.4dB midrange span), and there is no data yet showing whether the V2 improves on it. It has no subwoofer output for extending the bass below its 60Hz rating. It is mainly sold through Midiplus’s European and Asian distributors, with no US retailer yet.

Newer model: the Midiplus MI5 II V2. It’s likely to perform similarly, though we can’t confirm that yet.
Pros: Balanced inputs, Bluetooth and a powered-pair format offer useful connectivity. The measured -3dB point is around 54Hz, so it reaches lower in the bass than some compact monitors.
Cons: The 2.24 standalone and 4.53 ideal-subwoofer scores show significant problems above the bass region. A large 9.4dB midrange response span and listening-window narrow-band deviation of 0.644 indicate substantial coloration even though the overall response slope is fairly mild. A subwoofer cannot fix those irregularities. Amplifier-power specifications do not establish clean output. Discontinued.
