Short answer: the Beats Pill 2024. It ranks #78 of 177 medium speakers by sound quality, rated 3.3/5, at $99.95; the Marshall Emberton II ranks #126, rated 2.7/5, and costs $114, so there is little reason to consider the other one.
The case for the Marshall Emberton II: A tough waterproof speaker with Marshall styling, a very long battery and quick charging. It has an adjustable EQ, which the Beats Pill 2024 lacks. It plays in stereo from a single unit, unlike the Beats Pill 2024. The catch: Strange unnatural echo-like sound coloration, bass not as deep as competitors.
The Beats Pill 2024 is the better-sounding option. A compact waterproof speaker with long battery life, fast charging, a power bank port and stereo pairing. It supports AAC Bluetooth, which the Marshall Emberton II lacks. The tradeoff: Boosted upper bass, somewhat thuddy.
Buy the Beats Pill 2024. It is rated higher for sound quality than the Marshall Emberton II and costs less, so only choose the other one for a particular feature it does better.
