Short answer: the KZ Sonata. It ranks #933 of 1291 in-ear headphones by sound quality, rated 3.3/5, at $179.99. The Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro ranks #955, rated 3.2/5, at $169.99, $10 cheaper, not enough of a saving to outweigh the sound-quality gap.
The case for the KZ Sonata: A broadly balanced tuning with a preference score of 65 against the Harman target. Watch for: An uneven response, 2.9 dB standard deviation from target.
The case for the Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro: These true wireless earbuds have bass about 2 to 3 dB above target and extend flat to 20 Hz, giving a warm, punchy sound that suits bassy and warm listeners. The catch: Hobbyist measurements give it a Harman preference score of 64.2 with 2.5 dB of deviation, a fairly colored tuning.
Buy the KZ Sonata. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the $10 you would save on the Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro does not close the gap.
