Pros: A 12-inch Kevlar woofer in a reinforced MDF cabinet with a front-firing port, driven by a 220W Class-D amplifier. A four-position selectable crossover matches it to existing studio monitors, and the included bypass footswitch mutes the sub and sends full-range audio to the monitors for mix checks.
Cons: No independent measurements yet, so its output can’t be compared with ranked subwoofers. It is built as a studio monitor partner, so its controls suit a desk setup more than a home theater receiver.

Pros: A compact sealed 12-inch subwoofer, about 37cm on each side, with a 550W RMS (1,500W peak) Sledge amplifier and SVS’s smartphone app for volume, crossover, phase, room gain compensation and parametric EQ from the listening seat. Erin’s Audio Corner measured a 114.7dB CEA-2010-A average from 40 to 80Hz, and SVS rates it at 19-240Hz within 3dB.
Cons: Output is modest next to larger or ported subwoofers: Erin’s Audio Corner measured about 102.5dB at 20Hz, and he judged the SB-3000, about $200 more, the better value for its considerably higher output. Sealed designs this size run out of headroom sooner in large rooms.
