Kanto YU6 G2: $549.99 per pair Kanto eBay
Older model: the Kanto YU6 (rated 3.9/5).
Pros: The second generation YU6 swaps the Kevlar woofers for 5.25” abaca paper cone woofers alongside 1” silk dome tweeters, and raises amplifier power to 130W RMS (200W peak) from the original’s 100W RMS. Inputs cover RCA with a switchable phono preamp, optical and USB-C audio at 24 bit/96kHz, 3.5mm aux and Bluetooth 5.3 with AAC. A subwoofer output engages an automatic 80Hz crossover, and a USB-C port charges a phone. Includes a remote, speaker wire and swappable left and right channels.
Cons: Not on sale yet: Kanto lists it as coming soon. No independent measurements have been published, so it can’t be compared with the original YU6, which ASR measured. Its rated response starts at 55Hz, against 50Hz for the original YU6, so a subwoofer still helps for deep bass. Kanto doesn’t publish sensitivity or maximum output.

Vanatoo Transparent Zero Plus: $499.99 per pair Amazon eBay
Pros: Erin’s data shows a small 1.7dB span from 300Hz to 5kHz and a broadly level midrange trend. Scores of 4.07 standalone and 6.73 with an ideal subwoofer support it as a useful compact desktop option. Flexible cabinet orientation, multiple inputs and automatic subwoofer crossover behavior help with setup. Measured bass extension of 92Hz (-3dB), with a measured sensitivity of 88.5dB.
Cons: The measured -3dB point is around 95Hz, with a much lower F10 in the original review; this is not flat bass to the low-50Hz region. Vertical listening angle changes the upper-midrange response. The review finds cleaner results at moderate levels than near maximum output, where multitone distortion increases. A subwoofer is particularly valuable here. An 8th-order high-pass filter at 58Hz sharply cuts bass below that point, so kick drum fundamentals need a subwoofer.
