The Eris E5 ranks #77 at $186.98, $162.02 cheaper. The PreSonus Eris E5 is discontinued; its replacement is the PreSonus Eris Studio 5.
The LP-UNF backs up its design with Klippel measurements. Its 1 inch dome tweeter crosses unusually low at 1.9kHz to a 4.5 inch ported midwoofer, and Erin’s Audio Corner’s testing gives it -3dB bass extension around 54Hz with scores of 4.60 standalone and 6.67 with an ideal subwoofer. The low crossover and waveguide give it useful freedom in listening height for a two-way design, and moderate-level distortion is well controlled. The tradeoffs are specific too: a 2.9dB midrange span masks local response ripples, bass rolls off quickly below about 40Hz and bottoms out around 50Hz in-room, and the review found output limiting around 91dB per speaker. There’s also no dedicated subwoofer output.
The Eris E5 is a simpler, cheaper proposition without equivalent independent testing. It offers balanced XLR/TRS and RCA inputs plus placement adjustment, and existing listening notes describe a fuller low end than some small, bass-light monitors, useful for casual nearfield listening. But the cons are direct: a fuller bass balance is not necessarily a neutral one, and its placement adjustment does not replace a properly integrated subwoofer for deep-bass monitoring.
Buy the Kali Audio LP-UNF if you want measured, documented performance and features like USB-C and Bluetooth inputs, and can live with limited maximum output.
Buy the PreSonus Eris E5 if budget is the priority and you don’t need Klippel-verified measurements to make your decision.
