These are both excellent and they are not really the same product. The Kali LP-UNF ranks #5 and the JBL 305P MkII ranks #7 in the same 24-speaker class, $349 against $299 a pair.
The LP-UNF is a three-way in a small cabinet, and it reaches 39 Hz. That is remarkable for a desktop-sized monitor and means it works as a full-range system without a subwoofer, which almost nothing else at this size does. It also has the more useful input set for a desk: Bluetooth, USB-C digital, RCA and TRS, so it connects to a laptop, a phone and a turntable without an interface.
The 305P MkII is the more conventional studio monitor. Balanced XLR and TRS only — no Bluetooth, no USB, no RCA — because it expects an audio interface in front of it. It has a long track record as a reference at this price, with JBL’s waveguide giving it notably consistent off-axis behaviour. Room adjustment switches on the back let you compensate for boundary placement. It is also lighter, 4.7 kg each against 7.8 kg.
The practical split:
Buy the LP-UNF for a desk or a living room. The extra bass extension, the Bluetooth and the USB input make it a complete system on its own, and it is the better choice if this is your only pair of speakers.
Buy the 305P MkII if you are building a studio around an interface, want the waveguide’s directivity control, or plan to add a subwoofer anyway and would rather spend the difference there.
Neither needs a subwoofer as urgently as most monitors this size — but if you add one, see the subwoofer buyer’s guide.

The Two Speakers In Full
Kali LP-UNF: $349.00 Amazon
Pros: 1” dome tweeter on a waveguide crossed unusually low at 1.9kHz to a 4.5” ported midwoofer, giving wide vertical dispersion (about ±30-40° off the tweeter/mid reference axis) for a two-way design - well beyond the typical ±10-15°. Extensive dip-switch tuning covers desk vs. free-standing placement, near-wall (<0.5m) compensation, and ±2dB treble/bass adjustment. Distortion stays below 3% at 86dB; the reviewer calls it the best-measuring powered desktop monitor he’s tested, ahead of competitors like the PreSonus Eris E3.5 2nd Gen and Fosi SP3, which he describes as having one-note bass and roughly a 7dB midrange suckout. USB-C, RCA, TRS, and Bluetooth inputs; the secondary speaker is powered through a link cable from the primary unit rather than needing its own separate power connection. At $300/pair, called a no-brainer recommendation for a compact desktop monitor.
Cons: F3 of 54Hz and F10 of 39Hz mean bass rolls off quickly below about 40Hz, bottoming out around 50Hz in-room. No dedicated subwoofer output - pairing with an outboard sub (routing its own crossover back through the mains) is the only way to extend bass further. A built-in limiter caps real-world maximum output around 91dB/1m per speaker, about 5dB below the 96dB target used in compression testing, and distortion climbs past 3% beyond that point. Designed strictly for near-field use (about 0.8m recommended listening distance), not for filling a larger room at volume.

Pros: A fantastic value in studio monitors. Extremely close to the Focal Alpha 50 EVO, almost indistinguishable.
Cons: Possible slight hissing from the amps at low levels. Rear ported, can be an issue close to walls.
