The LP-UNF is the measured, more flexible desktop system. Its 4.5-inch woofers reach 54Hz before falling 3dB, its waveguide gives 30 to 40 degrees of vertical leeway, and it has USB-C, Bluetooth, analog inputs and many placement switches. It limits around 91dB at 1m per speaker and has no subwoofer output.
The S1000MKII is the larger hi-fi pair. Its 5.5-inch woofers run on 60W per speaker, and it has optical, coaxial and analog inputs plus aptX HD. Consumer Reports found it accurate and detailed. At 37 lbs (16.8 kg) the pair needs a planned desk or stand setup.
Buy the Kali LP-UNF. It is rated higher for sound quality than the Edifier S1000MKII and costs less, which makes it the one to get unless you need something the other one does better.

Pros: A practical compact desktop system with USB-C, analog inputs and Bluetooth, plus extensive placement switches. Erin’s Klippel data gives -3dB bass around 54Hz and scores of 4.60 standalone and 6.67 with an ideal subwoofer. The low crossover and waveguide provide useful freedom of listening height for a two-way design, and moderate-level distortion is well controlled in the review. The 1.9kHz crossover gives vertical coverage of about ±30 to 40°, well beyond the typical ±10 to 15° of a two-way. Measured bass extension of 54Hz (-3dB), with a measured sensitivity of 88.1dB.
Cons: The 2.9dB midrange span masks local response ripples; listening-window narrow-band deviation of 0.467 is behind the best monitors. The review finds limiting around 91dB/1m per speaker. No dedicated subwoofer output means integration requires suitable external routing or bass management. Its strength is affordable close listening, not top-tier tonal accuracy or high-output room playback.

Pros: A self-powered stereo pair with optical, coaxial and analog inputs, plus high-resolution digital support, makes source switching unusually simple. Consumer Reports rates its sound accurate and detailed, so it is a strong one-box alternative to separate amplifier-and-speaker systems for nearfield or small-room listening.
Cons: High-resolution input support is not a guarantee of perfect tuning, and the fixed internal amplification prevents the gradual upgrades possible with separates.
