JBL Pulse 5 vs Klipsch Groove

Last updated: October 3, 2026

Short answer: the JBL Pulse 5 for better sound quality, the Klipsch Groove for the lower price. The JBL Pulse 5 ranks #46 of 157 medium speakers, rated 3.7/5, at $189.99. The Klipsch Groove ranks #105, rated 2.8/5, at $9, $180.99 cheaper.

JBL Pulse 5 vs Klipsch Groove

The JBL Pulse 5 is the better-sounding, longer-running option. A cool light show, though it is not synced to the music like the Pulse 2. It is rated for 12 hours of battery against 8 for the Klipsch Groove. It is rated IP67 against IPX4 for the Klipsch Groove. It links with other speakers (PartyBoost up to 100 speakers), which the Klipsch Groove cannot. Watch for: Bass does not reach as deep as others, and the plastic scratches easily.

The Klipsch Groove is the lighter pick. Pretty balanced sound in a compact, splash-resistant form factor. At 1.7 lbs (770 g) it weighs much less than the JBL Pulse 5 at 3.3 lbs (1.5 kg). It supports AAC Bluetooth, which the JBL Pulse 5 lacks. It keeps a wired aux input, which the JBL Pulse 5 lacks. The tradeoff: Bass doesn’t go as deep as class leaders.

Buy the JBL Pulse 5 when sound quality outweighs the price for you, and the Klipsch Groove when the price outweighs sound quality instead.
