The JBL Partybox Encore is the better-sounding, deeper-bass pick. A great sounding party speaker with somewhat boosted bass and two included wireless microphones. Its bass reaches about 38Hz before falling 10dB, against 45Hz for the JBL Authentics 300. Alan Ross Reviews measured it at 110dB at full volume, against 100dB for the JBL Authentics 300. It is rated IPX4, while the JBL Authentics 300 has no water resistance. The tradeoff: Only IPX4 splash resistance.
The JBL Authentics 300 is the lighter choice. Integrates both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant simultaneously (rare for smart speakers). At 10.8 lbs (4.9 kg) it weighs noticeably less than the JBL Partybox Encore at 13.9 lbs (6.3 kg). The tradeoff: Narrow sounding, bass not as deep as others.
Buy the JBL Partybox Encore 2, the replacement for the discontinued JBL Partybox Encore; it is rated higher for sound quality than the JBL Authentics 300.
