These sit in different size classes, so this is not a straight ranking comparison. The JBL Partybox 110 ranks #7 of 50 party speakers by sound quality at $299.95; the Sony ULT Field 1 ranks #76 of 135 medium speakers by sound quality at $78.
The case for the JBL Partybox 110: very neutral sound, a slight step up from the Partybox 100. The catch: bass isn’t quite as deep as the Partybox 100, and JBL’s daisychain feature won’t talk to non-JBL speakers.
What the Sony ULT Field 1 gets right: IP67 rated and survives a 1m dunk, real-world battery runs 28+ hours with ULT bass boost off, and it stereo-pairs with a second Field 1. Set against that: an upper-midrange peak and rolled-off treble - and it’s a much smaller speaker than the Partybox 110 to begin with.
Buy the JBL Partybox 110 at $299.95 if you want a party speaker. Buy the Sony ULT Field 1 at $78 if you want a medium speaker instead.
If water resistance matters to you, the Sony ULT Field 1 at IP67 (brief submersion) holds up far better than the JBL Partybox 110 at IPX4 (splashing).

The Two Speakers In Full
JBL Partybox 110: $299.95 Amazon
Pros: Very neutral sound, slightly better than the Partybox 100.
Cons: Bass isn’t as deep as the Partybox 100. Just as loud and slightly deeper than a Stormbox Blast which is way smaller with better sound. Increase treble one step in the app to make it more neutral. Note, JBL daisychain is not compatible with any other non-JBL speaker and is possibly a fully digital signal.
