The Ranger’s appeal is toughness, not tuning. Our notes describe it as appearing quite tough, with magnets for attaching it to metal surfaces, and it does have smoother frequency response than other Turtlebox speakers, which is a low bar given the brand’s reputation for boomy sound elsewhere in its lineup. Even improved, its bass is still called kind of thuddy and not as deep as higher-ranked speakers, and it runs heavy for its size, likely a tradeoff for that ruggedness.
