Short answer: the Inawaken Dawn Mistwood. It ranks #520 of 1291 in-ear headphones by sound quality, rated 3.9/5, at $69.99; the Nothing Ear ranks #569, rated 3.8/5, at $69. Close enough in price that the sound-quality gap is the deciding factor.
What the Inawaken Dawn Mistwood does well: The median of 8 hobbyist measurements gives it a solid Harman preference score of 72 with a 1.88 dB spread, and its mids sit within about 0.5 dB of target, so vocals and instruments sound natural. The catch: Its 1.88 dB spread is less even than the best measured sets.
The case for the Nothing Ear: A smooth response in hobbyist measurements on squig.link, at a 1.8 dB standard deviation and a preference score of 71, with every band from 20 Hz to 10 kHz within about 2 dB of target. Watch for: A 6.2 dB dip near 10.5 kHz trims some top end sparkle, and a 4.5 dB peak near 7.9 kHz can add a little edge to sibilance.
Buy the Inawaken Dawn Mistwood. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the $0.99 you would save on the Nothing Ear does not close the gap.
